Information we collect
We collect information you provide to create or manage an account, connect with a loved one, request services, purchase credits, contact support or subscribe to marketing. This can include names, email and contact information; inmate names, DOC numbers, institutions and connections; service requests and message content; purchase identifiers, credit balances, subscription details and refund or dispute records.
Email signup records include subscription status, consent wording, offer versions and terms, request and confirmation timestamps, and email submission attempts. Website security uses session cookies, keyed request-limit identifiers and authentication records. Hosting and service providers may also maintain technical logs. Some pages request fonts from Google Fonts.
How information is used
We use relevant information to manage accounts and family connections, fulfill requested services, process purchases, maintain balances, provide support, protect the service and keep transaction and consent records. Marketing subscriptions require confirmation and are separate from account registration, receipts, password recovery and optional low-balance alerts.
Service providers and message processing
Depending on your service request, relevant information or customer message content may be processed using OpenAI GPT, Google Gemini or Anthropic Claude. We also use PostGrid and Lob for printing or mailing services, Stripe for payments, and IONOS for website hosting and email. Communications may pass through supported correctional messaging services or postal services as part of fulfillment.
Stripe collects payment details through its checkout. Our payment records include transaction identifiers, amounts and status. Providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices; using an AI or delivery provider to fulfill a service is separate from sharing information for third-party marketing.
Sale and third-party marketing
We do not currently sell personal information or share it for third-party marketing. Inmate Scribes reserves the option to consider these activities in the future, subject to applicable law. Before introducing such an arrangement, we will update this notice to explain the information involved, the types of recipients and the available choices, and provide any required notice or consent process. This statement does not itself authorize unrestricted use of your information.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
Customers may contact info@inmatescribes.com to request an opt-out of future sale or sharing for third-party marketing. Include the email or customer information needed to locate your record. Do not send passwords or full payment-card details. This link opens an email draft; send the email to submit your request.
Additional privacy rights may apply based on where you live and the laws covering the business. You do not need a customer account to contact us about rights that apply to you under law. Requests about access, correction or deletion may require information to verify your identity and protect other people's records.
Email preferences
Use the unsubscribe link in marketing messages to stop marketing emails. Marketing unsubscribe is separate from sale/share choices and does not stop necessary account or transaction messages. Optional low-balance alerts can be turned off on your account page.
Retention and removal requests
We retain information while it is needed to provide services, preserve account balances and outstanding obligations, maintain transaction and consent records, address disputes, protect the service or meet legal requirements. Removal requests are reviewed individually; some records may need to be retained, including financial records, unresolved service records and minimal information needed to honor an unsubscribe or privacy choice. We do not currently promise automatic deletion after a fixed period.
