What Does Inmate Scribes Do?
Inmate Scribes helps people in prison stay informed, connected, and supported. We provide research and answers, help with writing and documents, online account management, and printing and mailing services. Each customer works with a personal agent who helps manage their requests. Family and friends can purchase credits to support their loved one, with services delivered according to institution rules.
How do credits work?
Credits never expire, including promotional bonus credits. Credits pay for Inmate Scribes services. At the standard purchase rate, 100 credits equal $1.00. Checkout shows purchased credits and any eligible promotional bonus separately before payment. See popular requests and credit prices →

How affordable are your services?
We work to make our services affordable for everyone, whatever their financial situation. Over 15 years in business, we’ve developed state-of-the-art infrastructure and technology that help us keep prices low and turn requests around efficiently. Will my loved one have someone they can work with?
Yes. Every customer is assigned a personal agent who has been trained on our system. Their agent manages their requests and accounts, giving them a familiar person to work with for everyday help, research, and ongoing support.
Do you accept other forms of payment?
Yes. We accept institutional checks, money orders, and cashier’s checks made payable to Inmate Scribes. Mail payments to Inmate Scribes, PO BOX 16021, Greenville, SC 29606.
You can also send payments through PayPal to info@inmatescribes.com, Cash App to $inmatescribes1, or Venmo to @inmate-scribes.
Please include the inmate’s full name, DOC number, and institution or mailing address in the payment notes or with your mailed payment. For Cash App, you can also email these details to info@inmatescribes.com. If the inmate is already a customer, we will apply the credits to their existing account once the payment is received and matched.
Do you work with every institution?
Yes—we work with customers at every institution. We provide our services through USPS mail and correctional messaging platforms, including JPay, Securus, CorrLinks, GTL, and ConnectNetwork. Wherever your loved one is incarcerated, we can help them through an available contact method. The services and delivery options available depend on the rules at their institution.
What is the free guide offer?
